"... I can take care of myself, by myself."  Chris sat at the table thinking
about his wife Sara saying that to him as she left the room, head held high after
another of their arguments. His job as a research chemist was ending in a few months,
he had no job prospects, a non compete clause said he couldn't  work for another
chemical company and he didn't know how to do anything else. How could Sara think
he could stop everything. He had to take all the men in his department out of dinner
each week, needed his expensive leased car, the country club membership, lot of
electronic gadgets, nice clothes. His vanity and desire to impress others had them
deep in debt, but he couldn't stop spending, had to keep up appearances with his
friends.

Chris finally agrees to give up everything he thought was important, he doesn't want to
lose Sara. Money situation gets better, but his resentment of her is destroying the
relationship, they don't even speak to each other. Sara desides to try one more
desperate idea before filing for divorce. She inlists the aid of Chris' uncle - a preacher
who is also a marriage and financial counselor. After two days of intense preaching
and praying over Thanksgiving weekend, Chris begins to understand where he went
off track, admits his faults to Sara and things get better, she desides to stay.

"That town is smaller than this apartment complex" Chris explained after looking at a
map on the internet. Sara had inherited a farm in West Virginia, miles away from the
nearest town. Sara wants to move but neither of them know the first thing about
farming, they still have a lot of debt to pay, nowhere within driving distance of the farm
for either of them to get work.

How would they survive there? No money, no job, no skills. Will Sara leave him, move
there by herself?
"Oh, Joe, if this gossip and all the lies continue we're
going to lose everything!" Bonnie wailed to her husband.
"The house, my job, your law practice. What can we ... "

Having just been discharged from military duty, Joe was beginning a new job
with a very prominent attorney who is retiring and offering Joe his law practice.
Bonnie was teaching in a one-room school in a small community in Kentucky
after giving up a good teaching job in Chicago. Because the pay in Kentucky
was so low, seven hundred a month, the school board provided a house to live
in with the promise that they would give her the house free and clear if she
taught there for three years.

The future for them looked very bright. Until one of Bonnie's students became
pregnant. The community began to shun the girl and insisted Bonnie kick her
out of school. When Bonnie refused and even remained a friend to the student,
the gossip started that Bonnie and Joe were not married. After all she had lived
there alone for six months, then just a month ago Joe had showed up.

Doing a bit of research, Joe discovered the last two teachers had been forced
to resign because of gossip and outright lies told by the people of the
community.

The attitude of the community was about to destroy Bonnie's reputation, kill
Joe's dream job, and rob them of a house Bonnie was in love with.

Joe has to stop the gossip. But how?
Deena is a beautiful, sexy woman. At twenty-six she is still a virgin and wants to
remain that way until she marries. Thinking she will never find a man that holds
those same values she decides to buy a house and put her efforts into just
getting on with life. That is until she meets Jason, her brother's best friend.
When Deena brother, Bobby brings Jason to the new house to make some
electrical repairs, sparks fly between Jason and Deena.

Over the next few weeks as Jason becames a frequent visitor, even helping
Deena plant a large garden they find they had a lot in common, including
wanting to wait to have sex. Deena can't believe she has finally met a soul mate.

One big problem!

Eric! A man from Deena's past is stalking her, reminding her
of their plans to marry, move to another state, take care of his deceased
brother's children. He lists her house for sale. Tells others they are getting
married, arranges the wedding, invites people.

Deena tries to stop him, but can't find him. She has never dated him, doesn't
even know his last name. Only time she ever saw him was parties at the
apartment building she used to live in. Everyone there knows Eric but nothing
about him.

Who is this guy? What does he want?

The
Legacy
LYNDA DAVIS
Highlights from a recent interview with new Christian author, Lynda Davis.

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I live in southeast Michigan. Guess I'm considered a senior citizen, and some days I even feel it. My hobbies
are gardening and reading.

Who are your books written for?
Everyone. Teenagers to seniors. Men and women. Christian or not. None of my books have bad language or
graphic sex scenes. There are references to cuddling, kissing, and hugging. After all, the stories are about
people just like you and I.

What is the focus of your books?
Most people want to classify my work as Christian inspiration. Although the books do carry a strong Christian
message, they are not filled with Bible quotes or preaching. They deal with everyday people dealing with a
major crisis or problem, and show how the character's faith and trust in God can help them solve the crisis and
come out stronger for having gone through it.

A lot of Christian inspiration novels seem cold, almost depressing. Are yours?
The crisis my characters are faced with is almost always depressing.  My books reflect their day to day life as
they deal with their problems, find solutions and begin to enjoy a life that is often filled with a lot of humor.

Your first novel, 'Promise Notes', is due out soon. Can you share a little preview with us?
It follows what happens to a young man when he puts vanity first in his life. His sense of wanting to impress
others has left him deep in debt. He learns his job is ending, but he can't stop spending money. The stress of
the bills and no job prospects causes such a large rift between him and his wife that she threatens to leave
him if he doesn't change things, stop spending, and get them in a better financial situation before he is out of
work. Can he change? Does he want to? Will his wife really leave if he doesn't?

When can we read 'Promise Notes'?
'Promise Notes' will be available October 2008.

Are you working on anything else right now?
Yes. 'Shadow Mountain' deals with how gossip can wreck lives of many people, including a teacher in a
one-room school when she refuses to kick out a student who gets pregnant.  And
'The Legacy' is about a
young woman who wants to remain a virgin until she marries, but at twenty-six has all but given up hope of
meeting a man that feels the same. Until she meets her brother's best friend. Unfortunately, while she tries to
get to know him, a man from her past is stalking her.

Both sound very interesting.  Will they be available soon?
Shadow Mountain'  will be available in January 2009 and 'The Legacy' in spring of 2009.
